Happy Wednesday!

Pets with Personalities…well, it is as some of you may know, on the back burner this year.  We thought we’d take an extended time to make the next edition the best one yet. It will be our 4th edition next year. I will be keeping you all in the know about it. I kinda miss doing it this year.  Just time and commitments, as I am sure you are aware it is a very time consuming and big  endeavor… 2016.

Over the years I have been involved in some great charity events: donated sales  from my photos to time, donated photography  to such great Ottawa charities like Christie Lake Kids, The Bear’s Snow Suit Fund (Tuscon’s 2005′ish we raised like $3500 from just my print sales that we donated to the Bear), Home Runs for Autism, and various other charities  I have been involved in. This year is no different. I am and have been in the past working with Ringside for Youth, which is a blast and I get to work with a bunch of great people.   Then in June I head up to Pembroke ON and shoot the Jason Blaine Golf Classic to raise money for Algonquin College and the Boys and Girls Club.

For fun this year we are doing a couple different things. The first one I am kinda looking forward to is Project Self-Estem 2014, which is in its second year. I will be working with…I will let the Salvation Army tell you:

The Salvation Army’s Ottawa Booth Centre is hosting the second annual Project Self Esteem from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Tuesday November 4th, 2014 in the Chapel. The event is part of the Ottawa Booth Centre’s Life Skills Program which launched in August 2013.

The goal of the event is to provide hands-on support and guidance to those in the sheltered community who are committed to entering the workforce. The non-profit organization Causeway Work Centre, which assists those with disabilities and other challenges find meaningful work, will be on site to offer employment information.

A number of stations will be set up in The Ottawa Booth Centre chapel to offer services to our clients and the homeless population.  Participants will be offered a free haircut and beard trim courtesy of The Ottawa Academy School of Hair Styling and Aesthetics.  There will be a photo shoot station, thanks to the help of photographer Sean Sisk and make-up artist Corey J. Stone, where clients will receive a professional head shot photograph to help them in their search for employment.   A package with employment and resources specifically tailored to the homeless population as well as personal hygiene kits will also be provided to each participant.  Through a new partnership with the University of Ottawa’s “Cause Tutoring” clients will also have the opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one tutoring program to improve a skill or complete their high school diploma. A social including cake and coffee will also be part of the event.

The afternoon offers great opportunities to see The Ottawa Booth Centre’s programs in action, providing hope and dignity to our clients as they transform on the inside and out.

I think this is great. It is such a social media world now, employers wanna know who you are… We are gonna give each client that shows up a free commercial head shot for their LinkedIn, Facebook. etc  It’s not much, but it’s something, and shit it is always amazing to see a photo of yourself that you look and feel great in.

Then on November 8th I will be at Shopper’s Drug Mart from 11am till 4pm, while their cosmeticians do make overs, skin consults, all kinds of things to look and feel good for work & home. With your new look and health tips, I will be once again doing headshots for either your work, social media, or just for your self…whatever it will be yours and it will look great.

Then I am off to a awesome event for one of my personal fave charities Hopeful Hearts on November 2nd for their 2nd annual dinner with Erik Karlsson and friends.

Sadly though, I have to decline when I get asked to do some of the events, charities or when asked to donate, at least you know why now.

It should be a fun week ahead and it all gets started on October 31st when I will be at the Ottawa Convention Centre for the FACES Haunted Carvinal Halloween Party…come say ‘Hi’

It is a great community we have in Ottawa, do your best!

See ya all around thanks for reading. I am exited to be a part of all these amazing events and wanted to share.
